Our Gear Up Check Valve was engineered and designed to fit and function in Prestolite HYC5000 series powerpacks and its variations. This valve locks pressure with a proven hydraulic method. It costs just a fraction of what repair facilities are charging to fix the same issue. 

If your landing gear are trying to drop down during flight and your Prestolite pump is continuously cycling to keep the gear in the wheel wells, odds are your GUCV is leaking. There is no repairing the Prestolite valves. They haven't made new valves in decades, that means you're getting decades old GUCV's put in your powerpack. The rubber has already started to dry-rot prior to it being installed in your pump. Think of it as new OLD OLD stock.

Contacted the seller about the valve. Asked a few questions about how it worked and the difficulty of installation. Phil stated that there would be instructions E mailed off to me and a booklet on how to inspect the Hydraulic powerpack with colored pictures. The booklet was a massive bonus. I received everything by Email. The valve arrived within 3 days. Installed the Gear Check valve and the gear now stay up. Couldn't be happier with the performance of this valve.

I'll cut to the chase and simply say this valve works great. I have had the Prestolite HYC5005 in my Piper Lance develop a GUCV leak that causes the gear to drift down, triggering the pump to cycle on and off. These leaks developed in as little as 30 hours after installation of a rebuilt pump. Even if you buy a rebuilt pump from Aircraft Accessories or whomever, I would immediately take out the the GUCV they install and replace it with this one. I left my plane on its jacks for 72 hours with the gear retracted and they did not start drifting down. They stayed up and locked. I had some problem drilling the hole for the 1/8" cross pin. I think Select Fire should loan a drilling fixture to accurately drill the hole. But I see that Select Fire now has a new method to hold the GUCV in place. Maybe that's the way to go. I also think they should offer loaner gauges to test the pump for pressures, per the instructions. But after two months of flying and over thirty cycles on the gear, there is no sign of the dreaded gear drift down.
