Description
The 80% completed RAZOR receiver blank is machined from 6061-T6 billet aluminum. This part is not a casting! Because the RAZOR is not a casting it has no casting draft to the side walls like the factory Ruger receiver. Therefore, it is a more robust with heavier / thicker walls, top and integrated rail system. Attention to detail and state of the art CNC machining can be seen in every detail of this part. Because this is a non functional part and will require additional work to complete, there is NO FFL or paperwork required. As stated, the RAZOR cavity will come fully machined to include bolt cocking slot area. Should you want to complete and register your RAZOR we provide a print that shows all hole locations and drill sizes with every order. We also sell a tool kit required to finish your receiver. Should you purchase a RAZOR 10/22 receiver blank, all drill holes required to complete the RAZOR will eventually be filled with pins, screws and the barrel. No one will be able to see any work you did in completing the RAZOR as all those areas are also hidden within the rifles stock.

There are 3 major differences to the G10 receiver. You will notice two of them right away, QUALITY and COSMETIC. We also improved our internal machining process to deliver a crisper lined and tight tolerance product. The G10 has a split rail system for iron sites. In addition, it has a lower rear end to sit deeper/cleaner into the stock at the rear. We also changed the ejection port and gave it a more defined modern look. Basically we took everything that our customers asked for from our competitors and incorporated it into the G10!

I went at this not knowing anything.I considered it 120.00 for a lesson. I ended up with functional receiver, but a less than perfect barrel hole. I agree with Karl on the jig. There was nowhere to clamp too and I stepped up roughly a quarter inch each pass, and ended up off center. I was able to open it up further for a straight shot with an adjustable v-block. I can't wait to get my next. I believe in hands on learning and this was the most fun I've had working on anything in a while. I wouldn't get in a classroom for 120.00. The blueprint was laymen enough that I could follow, and the jig made it even easier. I will be getting more, thanks!

I just finished my third one. Great product, great shipping. If you have a box of spare 10-22 parts like I do this is a great way to use them. I use a junky old HF mill-drill and a boring head for the barrel hole and have the setup, tooling and procedure down pat now. I can turn one out complete in about an hour. A tip: cover the entire piece, inside and out, with green (or blue) masking tape before you start.

Just finished up my first receiver from you folks, it went pretty well. Only two little problems, 1st had to due a little grinding to get bolt inserted, 2nd I wish that the jig had a better means of being held in place while drilling the barrel hole.

Terrific deal for a handy DIY person. Quick service and easy access to Phil if you need help. I did whole receiver with a small drill press and it came out well. I will use step drills and reamer on big barrel hole for easier drilling next time. Quality machining and anodizing part looked great? I now have an extra 10 22 rifle with parts I had from upgrading triggers and bolt / stocks. Jig was good but a drill press vise is a must. Getting ready to make a few more soon. Thanks Phil good stuff !!!!

Rating Nice kit, but not exactly for the beginner.

Great receiver and was very happy with the way my project turned out, but I was disappointed that after ordering the jig and drill set with this, that the video does not show drilling the barrel port and the instructions suggest that you not drill the final 11/16" barrel port on your own. Why sell the kit and all the accoutrements if it can't be done in your own garage shop...after all, that is the purpose right? Anyhow, I ground the rail off the top and made it to the specs of a regular 10/22 receiver and mounted it in ProMag Archangel Charger 556 stock kit and it works great! I will be doing another one soon. See my other reviews for the 11/16" drill bit before you buy everything.

Rating This is getting ridiculous!

This is the second receiver I have purchased, yet again to fail because of the barrel hole. I purchased the drill fixture with my first receiver, which worked well, until I couldn't get a third hand to drill the barrel hole. I ended up being off by 1.2 mm. When assembled, it fired fine, but required manual loading as any attempt to chamber would jam. For the second receiver, I purchased the barrel hole center locator (SFCPK-1) and used the "Barrel hole center finder in correct position" image as a reference on how to align the tool. Well what do you know. After carefully stepping up my bits and finishing with the reamer, the barrel does not want to go into the receiver since it is too close to the lip! I'm not sure whether to purchase, yet another receiver, or just give up entirely...

Rating Outstanding!

Simply outstanding! I was put off by the price at first. When I finally had one in hand found it was money well spent. In fact, I was engulfed with the feeling of "why would you do it any other way?" If you're considering a 10/22-like project the Razor is the only way to go. In addition to building more of these I'm going to tackle the magnum version, too.

I bought the Razor receiver and tool kit and jig tool. I watched the video several times and followed it to the T. When I assembled the 10/22 the barrel was off center and pointing to the right making it Unusable! So I ordered a second Razor and built a jig and watched the video again. This time I spent more time to make sure everything was square and true. The jig is hard to clamp and the barrel hole Locator is impossible to use as I was instructed to start the pilot hole then gradually increase the drill bit till the reamer is used. Failed again! I’m disappointed with the jig and the instructions are awful! I am determined to finish a receiver but I may have to buy a different jig somewhere.

Rating Works like a charm

I built mine using a milling machine instead of a drill press, and I used an 11/16 reamer for the barrel hole. I assembled it using a Select Fire LLC bolt, a Ruger target trigger module, and a fluted bull barrel. After checking it with .22lr dummies, I took it to the range and it worked flawlessly. I fired both plated and plain lead bullets, and it worked like a charm. I would highly recommend it. I've built 80% ARs and 1911s. This was the easiest of them all, with great results.

Rating Exactly what I needed

This was my first 80% 1022 build. I have built several AR’s from 80% lowers and this project is much easier. First the best way I found to clamp the receiver in place was to use a Picatinny Rail Vise. (Like this one. hxxp://www.midwayusa.com/product/878754/pri-upper-receiver-picatinny-rail-vise-block-ar-15 You can clamp to the vice blocks and you don’t have to worry about scratching your 80% receiver. Next tip when marking the barrel location, I used the jig and a center locating punch from HF. One tap with a hammer to mark center, then used an automatic center punch to get a deeper mark. Mounted the receiver in a vice under the drill press, making sure everything was level, then used a 1/8 inch drill bit to get a starter hole. I then used stepped drill bits to get up to the 11/16 hole for the barrel. Finished the final 11/16 hole with the drill bit from the kit. The picatinny rail vice was helpful with all the holes except for the side receiver and buffer spring holes. I would consider it a must have tool. It certainly works easier than any home built wood clamp. Hope this helps everyone else as they work through their builds.

Perfect product. I did see the videos about completion but did not follow the advice regarding barrel hole. I have a ancient Craftsman drill press that I could dial down to 400 rpm, and my first pass at the barrel hole was 3/8, then up 1/16 until I got to 11/16 - the new bits cut very well and very easy at that speed, and I finished off with the reamer included in the kit. The AGP Arms takedown adapter fit the resulting hole with a slight press fit - perfect, really. Very happy with the results.

I ordered this item on 1/7/13 and received it 1/9/13, very fast service. Now on to the receiver, As someone use to do anodizing and (currently) chromate aluminum. This is a fine piece of work here. Matter of fact I don't even understand why the instructions recommend wet sanding to get rid of burs and edges, this thing is clean! Just ordered the jig and bit set and it's already being shipped. WILL DEFINITELY BE DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY AGAIN!

So I ordered two of these receivers and got them fast only problem is one had some small gouges. Well to my suprise I sent an email and it was answered within 2hrs and a night to top it off. Long story short they gladly sent me a new one no hassles. As of now I have drilled out all the holes but the barrel waiting for it to show so I can mic it first so far so good jig works great takes out all the guess work even though the plans are spot on. Buy 1or 3 you will not be sorry.
